A small practice · Two surgeries

Unhurried dentistry, explained before anything begins.

Maple Garden is built around longer appointments and written treatment plans. You will know what we found, what it costs and what happens next before you agree to anything.

  • Open Monday to Saturday
  • Direct access hygiene
  • Longer nervous-patient slots
Same-day problems
Two assessment slots are held back each weekday morning for pain, swelling and broken teeth.
Appointment length
New patient assessments run 45 minutes. Hygiene visits are 30 or 50 minutes, your choice.
Getting in
Step-free entrance, ground-floor surgery available on request, and a quiet waiting room.
What we treat

Five lanes of care, each with its own pace

Most people come for one of the first two. The rest are planned over several visits so nothing is rushed and nothing is decided in the chair.

Not sure which applies to you? Ask for a 45-minute assessment and we will write the options down for you to take away.

Check-ups and ongoing care

A full examination of teeth, gums, bite and soft tissues, with small radiographs only when they change the plan. You leave with a written note of anything we are watching.

  • 45 min first visit
  • Recall 6–24 months
  • Written plan

Hygiene and gum health

Scaling, polishing and a technique review with the hygienist. Deeper gum treatment is staged across two or three appointments with a review before any further work.

  • 30 or 50 min
  • No referral needed
  • Saturday clinic

Fillings, crowns and repairs

Tooth-coloured fillings, onlays and crowns for worn or cracked teeth. We take photographs first so you can see the tooth we are describing before you decide.

  • 60–90 min
  • Photographs shown
  • Fee agreed first

Straightening and whitening

Clear aligners and home whitening for adults, discussed together because the order matters. Suitability is assessed at a separate consultation, not during a check-up.

  • Consultation first
  • Staged payments
  • Retainer included

Urgent problems

Toothache, a lost filling, a broken front tooth or a swollen gum. The first appointment is about settling the pain and explaining the choices, never a sales conversation.

  • Held-back slots
  • Registered or not
  • 20 min triage
Your first visit

Four steps, about forty-five minutes

If it has been a while, this is the part people worry about. Here is the whole appointment, in order, so there are no surprises.

  1. Step one

    Talking first

Ten minutes seated and upright. Your history, what has been bothering you, and what you want to avoid. Nothing goes in your mouth yet.

  2. Step two

    The examination

Teeth, gums, bite, jaw joints and soft tissues, with a gum chart. We describe what we see as we go rather than dictating numbers over you.

  3. Step three

    What we found

Photographs on the screen beside you, in plain language: what is healthy, what is worth watching, and what genuinely needs attention now.

  4. Step four

    Options and costs

Each option written down with its fee and its alternatives, including doing nothing for now. You take it home. Booking is a separate decision.

If you find dentistry difficult

Delayed care is common. We plan around it.

Tell us when you request a visit and we will book the appointment differently from the start, rather than improvising once you are in the chair.

  • A longer, quieter slotFirst or last appointment of the day, with no overlapping surgery noise.
  • Look, don't treatA first visit that ends at the conversation. Treatment is always a later, separate appointment.
  • An agreed stop signalRaise a hand and everything pauses — suction out, chair up, no persuading.
  • Numbing before numbingTopical gel first, then slow local anaesthetic, with time to take effect properly.
  • Someone with youA companion is welcome in the surgery, and headphones are fine throughout.
Fees and membership

Spread the routine care, agree the rest in writing

Membership covers the predictable appointments monthly. Anything beyond it is quoted before it is booked, and you are never charged for a plan you decided not to go ahead with.

Tell us roughly what you need

We reply with two or three times that fit, and confirm the fee for the appointment itself before you commit to it.

A request is not a booking. Nothing is confirmed until we have agreed a time with you.

Before you book

Questions people actually ask us

If yours is not here, add it to the notes field in the request form and we will answer it in our reply.

Do I have to register to be seen?

No. You can book a single assessment or an urgent appointment without registering. Registration simply means we keep your records, send recall reminders and hold your preferred appointment pattern.

Can I see the hygienist without seeing a dentist first?

Yes, that is direct access. If the hygienist notices something that needs a dentist's opinion, they will tell you at the appointment and you decide whether to follow it up here or elsewhere.

What happens if you find something expensive?

You get the options in writing with fees, including the option of monitoring rather than treating. We will also tell you honestly if waiting is a reasonable choice and what the risk of waiting is.

Do you see children?

Yes, from the first teeth onwards. Early visits are deliberately short — sitting in the chair, counting teeth, a ride up and down — so the room is familiar long before anything needs doing.

How do I move my records from another practice?

Tell us the previous practice name in your request and we will send a records request once you are registered. You do not need to collect anything yourself, and we will still examine you from scratch.

I am in pain today. What should I do?

Send a request marked as a problem and say it is today. Weekday morning triage slots are held back for exactly this. If we cannot help in time, we will say so straight away rather than leave you waiting.

What if I need to cancel?

Let us know at least a working day ahead and there is no charge — the slot usually goes to someone waiting. Repeated same-day cancellations may mean we ask for the appointment fee upfront next time.
